California Council of the Blind (CCB)


A statewide chapter of a nationally based nonprofit organization run by and for people with visual impairments.  CCB's mission is to increase the independence, security, equality of opportunity, and quality of life for all Californians who are blind and visually impaired. Through CCB's office in Sacramento and its 40 local chapters and statewide special interest associations, the Council provides information and referral, technical assistance, advocacy, leadership development, publications, emergency funds, accessible technology loans, and scholarships.

Disability Rights of California (DRC)

A nonprofit advocacy organization.  DRC's Youth Practice Group (YPG) advocates ensure that students with disabilities benefit from the vast array of educational services and supports guaranteed under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. YPG works to remove barriers for students with disabilities so they can learn, play, and participate in extracurricular activities in neighborhood schools with their peers. Our work includes due process and compliance complaints, litigation, and systemic advocacy.
